HISTORY LHP Group’s journey begins at 17th February 1987 by the visionary founder Mr. Jayantha Kumara Amarawardana, a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Moratuwa with the name of “Lankan Hume Pipes (Pvt) Ltd”. It was incorporated in 1996 as a Private Limited Company under the Companies Act No. 17 of 1982. He started the business only with only four employees with manufacturing precast products, Hume pipes, Septic Tanks and Water tanks. In 1994, Bokundara became the sales point while at the same time period it has been contracted to fabricate Manholes and Hand holes for almost all Telecom projects which were carried out earlier by Japanese Multinational companies. With time main fabrication yard of the company was built at Polgasowita with more land area, more human power and improved technology. With the rapid expansion of programmer to cater for the increasing telecom demand, the business has moved in to carry out the other telecom outside plant construction work, such as underground conduit laying and cable laying. The company was equipped to undertake any sort of telecom civil engineering work from this period. Later in the mid-nineties company has commenced a civil engineering construction department to carry out work in the development projects of the Sri Lankan Government. This included work in the Galle road Rehabilitation project, Mahaveli Development project and the expansion project of the water board. Company’s market share was increased rapidly among the commercial sector projects. The company awarded Grade M4 by the Institute of Construction Training and Development in 1998 in recognition of its ability to carry out larger construction work. In 2003, the Sri Lankan Standards Institution granted SLS Quality Assurance certificates to the quality products of the Lankan Hume Pipes Company are the only SLS 452 Quality assurance certificates holder in Sri Lanka among 20 manufacturers, and still maintains SLS 452 quality system. Revolutionalising the solar heating industry of Sri Lanka, Mr. Jayantha Kumara Amarawardana, initialized innovative Buffalo Solar Pvt Ltd in 2010 which introduced the ground-breaking Buffalo Solar Water Heaters, the only brand of Solar Water Heater manufacturer in Sri Lanka. This great effort serves Sri Lanka with relief to the future energy scarcity. Within an ethical and decent business environment, LHP Group expanded its products range. In 2013, LHP Eco Center (Pvt) Ltd was started being on the theme of innovative solutions to save energy and the environment. The increasing dependency of batteries has become inevitable with the advancements of lifestyles and evolving technical developments, resulting in alarming levels of Lead entering the country with the import of 6 million batteries a year. LHP Eco Center disrupted the battery market with the introduction of unique Lead Acid battery Regenerating project with the support of South Korean experts. LHP Best Textiles (Pvt) Ltd begins at 2013 with the latest and high-quality fabrics from Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, and India in a variety of types, lengths, textured and designs, suited for a numerous needs of the fashion world and offered at low prices. LHP Buffalo Building Solutions begins in 2016 with a novel concept to Sri Lanka, providing buildings at a low cost, less time and highest quality using EPS Sandwich Panels, Cladding sheets, and other products by itself.
